SOMATOM CT Sliding Gantry
A dozen steps closer to you
Greater precision and excellent patient outcomes are compelling reasons for using advanced CT imaging for trauma diagnostics, surgery, interventional procedures, and radiation oncology. But there can be many obstacles in your way: the CT scanner is located far away, is currently blocked by another user, or patient transport would compromise safety. Accessing CT imaging under these circumstances is cumbersome because it requires many unwanted steps.
That is why we at Siemens Healthineers designed SOMATOM CT Sliding Gantry. It moves on rails where it needs to be: within your ER, OR, treatment bunker, or interventional suite when you want to perform CT imaging, or just out of the way when you need space.
The sliding gantry CT provides the advanced imaging functionality of a stationary scanner such as the reduction of metal artefacts (iMAR1) or our iterative reconstruction, consequently following ALARA, the paradigm to deliver the right image quality at a dose as low as reasonably achievable. Because the gantry slides over the patient, you never have to transfer the patient between tables. You can also count on increased CT utilization because with up to 12‐meter rails the setup can serve two rooms with one scanner. This means that you can evaluate and treat patients in one room while another patient is being prepared next door.
Do you want to take the shortest possible route and avoid unnecessary steps? SOMATOM CT Sliding Gantry, the scanner that comes to you when you need it. Now you have the freedom to use CT imaging for diagnosing trauma patients, guiding surgery, performing interventional procedures, and to support radiation oncology planning fast and with confidence.
Radiation oncology
SOMATOM CT Sliding Gantry delivers cutting-edge diagnostic imaging—without unwanted patient movement.
. The CT gantry slides on rails over the patient, so table and accessories remain stationary
. Imaging for brachytherapy without patient and applicator motion
. Planning of radiation and particle therapy treatments with high precision
. Diagnostic imaging with superb soft tissue contrast
. Excellent temporal resolution of CT reduces any organ movement as you scan
Emergency radiology
SOMATOM CT Sliding Gantry makes CT imaging available directly in the ER.
. CT comes to the patient in critical situations and moves out of the way when it’s not needed, making room for the trauma team
. During scanning, table and patient remain fixed and only the gantry is moving
. Sealed rails keep the floor level flat so it’s easy to move carts or beds over them
. With up to 12 meter travel path, the CT can serve two rooms at the same time, thereby increasing CT utilization
Surgery
SOMATOM CT Sliding Gantry brings intraoperative CT imaging to you when you need it.
. CT gantry slides on rails over the patient who remains in the final surgical position
. Flexibility to move the modality out of the way and into a parking position at any time
. Rails are sealed and keep the floor level flat such that it is easy to move carts or beds over them
. Water cooling to reduce air circulation from the CT
Interventional radiology
SOMATOM CT Sliding Gantry provides hassle-free intraprocedural guidance.
. CT gantry slides on rails over the patient avoiding repositioning or dislocation of catheters and moves away to give additional space
. Complete tableside control to stay with the patient
. 3D guidance to achieve accurate needle positioning
. High-quality CT imaging incl. metal artifact reduction and large field of view
